Franznap Miniatures Austrian Hussars test shots in resin
The two first sets of Franznap Miniatures are close to the start line, here the first test shots in resin.
The story of this sets is long, i first did some of them out of conversions, but after, when my skills developed, i re-sculpted them and sent them to production.Unfortunately the molding process damaged the masters and i had to repair them and find solutions of the technical problems which created that damage.
Now finally i could have in my hands the first copies ready for production. I will do it in both resin and metal, the sets in resin will have more pieces, as spare heads, arms, weapons and equipment.
French artillery horse holder masters finished
Saxon Officers 1806
I'm working to complete the set of this Saxon officers, there are now three , a general, an infantry officer and the last hussar officer; here the last one . I will add a n other one or two cavalry officers and two foot infantry officers .
French Horse Artillery Drill
Here a scheme i made from the good article of Karl Baron Smola on horse artillery organization you can find translated in the Napoleon Series Articles I hope it is enough correct.
First team french line horse Artillery almost ready
Here the first set of the French Line horse Artillery 1806, loading team, 7 figures, sabres and sabretaches must be sculpted but i'm thinking to keep them as separate pieces in order to have more details and less undercut points.
Hat Bavarian Infantry
Here some painted Hat Bavarians, I mixed the two boxes produced by Hat, and added the flag, i also added the schutzen with green plumet.
More horse artillery
Proceeding with the sculpt of these fellows, i started some mounted ones which will be set with cantering horses. Here some test horses which come from my production, (my system allows almost 1000 different poses). These mounted ones are slightly bigger (1mm) from the standing ones because i used as base some own caste spare bodies. I will recover the problem in the following.
First sculpts of French Line Horse Artillery
I'm fulfilling a long ago desire, to reproduce the beautiful horse artillerymen from Lejeune, with their flamboyant hussar style uniform, the one used since 1806/9. I would like to make a complete set with mounted ones and in loading aiming and firing action, may be with some train horses cantering or standing..... may be i will be bored after a while.... who knows;anyway this will be part of my future production i hope.
More veliti and horses different poses
Finally after 1 year preparation and concept i have developed a system to produce easily horses masters in different poses, and it works!!!! I'm happy to show you here the first tests. I hope there it will become soon a production of spare horses in the main poses, to add variety and avoid to use some very low quality ones.
The Veliti della Guardia are still on the workbench, making muskets and backpacks.... see the progress
Veliti della Guardia
Here the first shots of the Veliti della Guardia, which can also converted as Granatieri della Guardia; I'm here trying standing figures poses and proportions which i must say i'm still not very good at ; I want to make 8/10 figures "at ease" and may be later trying more action ones.
and a new standing pose Paul Yves Bernard de Lavauguyon ADC of king Murat
More Neapolitans
Two more from the test mold : in Yellow an officer of Ussari della Guardia, with the white horse an ADC of the King.
the first one can be painted also as Guide and as late guard Hussar.
First Neapolitan Staff test shots
Finally after having develop a homemade centrifugal casting machine i tried to cast a first sprue with the Neapolitan Staff, i will complete the series soon with a new mounted ADC in addition (to fill the mold). Here i had the emotion to paint my first ever sculpted miniatures : left a Guardia del Corpo and a Captain of the General Staff of King Murat.
Franznap Lancers 2nd serie
Finally ready painted the test shot of the French Lancers; took me several months to finish but I'm glad to show you the possibilities of conversions due to separate arms and spare heads.
the mounting and dismounting lancers are quite useful and with a head change could be used as other units.
One offs from the workbench
Back again on business, i'm still not settled in but i enjoyed on some One Off pieces just for warming up again.....
Here a French Guard Foot Artillery officer , and an Austrian hussar welcomed by his dog.
The advantage of making unique pieces is that i have not to think about mold undercut and i can detail everything as i want.
It is almost 1 year since I started sculpting, and I learned a lot, may be i will post some of my experiences in this technique if somebody is interested on.
Franznap Lancers 2 Serie test cast
Finally i had some time for home casting the second Series of the French Line Lancers .
The spare heads and arms allows different variations, one horse has spare saddlecloth to be used as private and officer one.
These tests are not ready for production, but help me to check the feasibility of the sculptures .
Murat and other
Having very few time for my favorite hobby, i post here some advancing steps in sculpting, the King Murat, some horses sculpture and 2 attempt on foot miniatures which i would make in a serie, a drummer boy which can fit many napoleon armies and an Highlandres NCO which could be part of a Colour party.
New mounted Neapolitan officers
Here some new masters for the Neapolitan General Staff, with King Murat Himself and a Major of the Guides
see all the picts in the section Sculpting and Casting ; i'm now busy with more horses.
I'm also ready with the french lancers masrers second group .
New sculpted ...
Added a new mounting lancer, busy with the officer headgear, working at horses (see Horses in Casting page)
